Some / Any
Some and any are for uncountable nouns and plurals. Never use them with singular countable nouns; use a/an there.
Rule
Use some mostly in positive sentences, and any in negatives and most questions. Both are used with plural or uncountable nouns, not with singular countable nouns.
Formula

- some milk / some tomatoes - correct
- some / any tomato - incorrect -> a tomato - correct
