Stupňování přídavných jmen
Porovnávej lidi a věci: krátká přídavná jména mají -er/-est, dlouhá more/the most a několik nepravidelných tvarů je třeba se naučit.
Pravidlo
Jednoslabičná přídavná jména (a dvouslabičná končící na -y) tvoří stupně pomocí -er / the -est. Delší používají more / the most. Druhý stupeň se pojí s than; třetí s the.
Tip
Počítej slabiky: jedna nebo dvě končící na -y → přidej koncovku; cokoli delšího → dej před něj more / the most.

Časté chyby

Poznámky
- Třetí stupeň téměř vždy používá the: the best, the most expensive.
- Některá dvouslabičná přídavná jména končící na -le, -er nebo -ow mají také -er: simple → simpler, clever → cleverer, narrow → narrower
- Stejnost vyjadřuje as ... as: She is as tall as her brother. Zápor: not as tall as.
- Velký rozdíl: much / far + druhý stupeň — This one is much better.
