Mit dieser Struktur sagst du, dass etwas existiert oder an einem Ort vorhanden ist.
Regel
Verwende there is mit Substantiven im Singular und mit nicht zählbaren Substantiven, there are dagegen mit dem Plural.

Falsch: There is two chairs in the room.Richtig: There are two chairs in the room.
Hinweise
- Bei der ersten Erwähnung steht there is, danach the: There is a book on the desk. The book is mine.
- Die Struktur wird oft mit some/any verwendet: There is some milk. Is there any milk?
- Bei einer Aufzählung richtet sich die Form nach dem ersten Element: There is a table and two chairs.
