Stopniowanie przymiotników
Porównuj osoby i rzeczy: krótkie przymiotniki przyjmują -er/-est, długie more/the most, a kilka form nieregularnych trzeba zapamiętać.
Reguła
Przymiotniki jednosylabowe (oraz dwusylabowe zakończone na -y) tworzą stopnie za pomocą -er / the -est. Dłuższe przymiotniki wymagają more / the most. Stopień wyższy łączy się z than, a najwyższy z the.
Wskazówka
Policz sylaby: jedna albo dwie z końcówką -y → dodaj końcówkę; przy dłuższych formach postaw przed przymiotnikiem more / the most.

Uwagi
- Stopień najwyższy prawie zawsze wymaga the: the best, the most expensive.
- Niektóre dwusylabowe przymiotniki zakończone na -le, -er lub -ow także przyjmują -er: simple → simpler, clever → cleverer, narrow → narrower
- Równość wyrażamy przez as ... as: She is as tall as her brother. Przeczenie: not as tall as.
- Duża różnica: much / far + stopień wyższy — This one is much better.
