Правило
There is вживаємо з одниною та незлічуваними, there are — з множиною.

Неправильно: There is two chairs in the room.Правильно: There are two chairs in the room.

- Перша згадка через there is, далі the: There is a book on the desk. The book is mine.
- Природно поєднується зі some/any: There is some milk. Is there any milk?
- З переліком узгоджуємо за першим словом: There is a table and two chairs.
