Already / Just / Yet

Três palavras comuns com o Present Perfect: just para algo que aconteceu há pouco, already para algo que aconteceu antes do esperado e yet para algo que ainda não aconteceu.

Regra

Coloque just e already entre have/has e V3. Coloque yet no fim da frase e use-o apenas em negativas e perguntas.

Dica

Duas vão no meio e uma espera no final: I have just eaten, I have already eaten, mas I haven't eaten yet.

Apenas afirmativa: I have already eaten.Negativa e pergunta: I haven't eaten yet.
Já aconteceu: The film has already started.Ainda está pendente: The film hasn't started yet.

Em uma conversa

  • AHave you packed for the trip yet?
  • BI've already packed the clothes, but I haven't found my passport yet.
  • AI have just seen it on the kitchen table.

Erros frequentes

  • Errado: I have finished my homework yet.Certo: I have already finished my homework.Yet não é usado em uma frase afirmativa; use already.
  • Errado: I haven't already eaten.Certo: I haven't eaten yet.As negativas levam yet, e yet vai ao final.
  • Errado: She has arrived just.Certo: She has just arrived.Just vai entre have/has e V3, nunca no final.

Observações

  • Already em uma pergunta expressa surpresa: Have you already finished? (que rápido!)
  • Yet também pode significar "até agora" em uma pergunta: Has he called you yet?
  • No inglês americano cotidiano você pode ouvir Past Simple com estas palavras: I just ate. O inglês britânico conserva Present Perfect: I have just eaten.
