There is / There are
Use esta estrutura para dizer que algo existe ou está presente em algum lugar.
Regra
Use there is com substantivos singulares e incontáveis e there are com substantivos plurais.

Erros frequentes
Errado: There is two chairs in the room.Certo: There are two chairs in the room.
Observações
- Na primeira menção, use there is; depois, the: There is a book on the desk. The book is mine.
- Combina-se naturalmente com some/any: There is some milk. Is there any milk?
- Em uma lista, o verbo concorda com o primeiro elemento: There is a table and two chairs.
