Be going to
Sert à une action future déjà prévue, ou à une prédiction évidente fondée sur des signes présents.
Règle
La forme de be (am/is/are) s’accorde avec le sujet. Après going to, emploie toujours la forme de base du verbe. Will sert aux décisions prises à l’instant ; be going to sert aux projets.

Remarques
- Projet futur → be going to
- Décision spontanée → will
- Look at the clouds — it is going to rain. (prédiction évidente)
- Gonna transcrit la prononciation familière de going to devant un verbe : I'm going to call you. → I'm gonna call you. Dans un texte soigné, écris going to.
- Quand going to indique un déplacement vers un lieu, ne le remplace pas : I'm going to Lyon, pas I'm gonna Lyon.
