Usa the quando chi parla e chi ascolta sanno già di che cosa si tratta o quando la cosa è unica.

Regola

Usa the quando una cosa è già nota, già menzionata o specifica nella situazione, e con elementi unici come the sun. Si usa inoltre con intere categorie di nomi: mari e fiumi, catene montuose, paesi dal nome plurale, giornali, hotel e musei.

Suggerimento

Una domanda risolve quasi tutti i casi: chi ascolta sa già esattamente di quale elemento parlo? Se sì → the. Se può essere uno qualsiasi → a/an.
