Must / Mustn't

Usa must per un obbligo forte, una regola o una deduzione certa di chi parla.

Regola

Must esprime un obbligo forte o una regola. Mustn't significa vietato, non assenza di obbligo. Passato → had to; futuro → will have to.

  • Non ha forme dirette al passato o al futuro
  • Passato → had to
  • Futuro → will have to
  • mustn't non è don't have to: vietato e non necessario non significano la stessa cosa
  • Deduzione certa sul presente: You must be tired after such a long day.
  • Le domande con must sono rare e formali; nell’inglese quotidiano si usa Do I have to…?
