Could è il passato di can per la capacità nel passato ed è anche un modo cortese per chiedere qualcosa nel presente.
Regola
Usa could / couldn't per la capacità nel passato. Could you…? è una richiesta cortese, più delicata di Can you…? Dopo could il verbo resta alla forma base.
